Diocese mourns death of Very Rev. Tony Corr PP VG

With deep sorrow, the Diocese of Dromore mourns the sudden death of the Very Reverend Tony Corr PP VG on Sunday 6th June 2021. Fr Corr was Parish Priest of Aghaderg and Donaghmore Parishes within the Diocese of Dromore at the time of his death. Dearly beloved son of the late James and Teresa Corr R.I.P., he is the dearest brother of Martina, Jim, Kieran and Ignatius, beloved brother-in-law of Tom, Sabina, Laura and Paula and devoted uncle to Caitriona, Declan, Conrad, Ciara, Ciaran, Conor and Gavin. We pray for his family in these difficult days.

Born in Lurgan, 1963, Fr Tony attended primary schools in Portadown and Craigavon before completing his second-level education at Lismore Comprehensive College, Craigavon. After several years in employment, he studied for the priesthood at St Patrick’s College, Thurles, and was ordained in 1994. He served as curate in several parishes across the diocese including Warrenpoint, Clonduff and Newry with his longest appointment being in Seapatrick (Banbridge) from 2000 to 2012. He was appointed parish priest of Aghaderg and Donaghmore parishes in 2016 and was appointed Vicar General of the Diocese in 2018.

Fr. Tony’s remains will be reposing at Loughbrickland Parochial House (strictly private for family only) until Thursday at 12 noon when his remains will be removed to St John’s Church, Glenn, to repose from 1.00 p.m.-5.00p.m. and then reposing at St. Patrick’s Church Loughbrickland from 6.00 p.m.-10.00 p.m. Requiem Mass will be celebrated on Friday at 12.00 noon in the Church of St. Thérése, Banbridge, with interment afterwards in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Derrymacash. Sadly due to the current situation the wake and funeral are strictly private.

The Requiem Mass can be viewed live via the Seapatrick Parish webcam https://www.mcnmedia.tv/cameras/church-of-st-therese

Deeply regretted by his sorrowing sister, brothers, brother-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and entire family circle, Archbishop Eamon Martin, retired Bishop John McAreavey, the Priests and Religious of the Diocese and the parishioners of Aghaderg and Donaghmore parishes, also the parishes where Fr Tony served and his many friends.

Our Lady of Lourdes pray for him.
